The arctic is a wonderful destination in the summer months for those who love the outdoors. Not only does the landscape change dramatically from month to month, but so too do the outdoor activities which are possible. Each season's unique benefits are detailed in the 'When to Come' section of our website.
The tiny frontier village of Hetta is truly in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by wilderness areas and national parks. Indeed, Finland's Lemmenjoki National Park, nearby, in combination with the Ovre Anarjokka National Park just over the border, together form the largest wilderness area in Europe. Here, you are just as likely, in this incomparable 4250m2 playground to encounter signs of wolves, bear, wolverine, fox, elk and reindeer as you are other humans. So come and explore with us, in the wilderness playground around our farm.
The section of our website which details the summer outdoor activities for which the area is known is worth having a look at, at this point. So too is the section about nature-based outdoor activities possible through the year.
Of course our dogs are keen to meet new people, year round. They may just be a little more shy in summer than in winter as we don't get so many visitors outside of the mushing season (it means that they appreciate it all the more, when you come to visit them!). And there are many fun farm activities (evening feeding, agility fun etc) which are even more enjoyable in summer than in winter.
There is a separate section on hiking with huskies and the canoeing and kayaking journeys which are possible in the area are enjoyable for all. A variety of the best summer activities in Hetta can be sampled in our adventure mornings and adventure day programmes. These pre-made packages are designed to save you time and money over trying to find and book each activity separately and they can be tailored to suit different types of groups and fitness levels.
However, feel free to get in touch with us directly if you are a group wanting more than the husky, kayak, bike and nature-based products we generally offer within our product portfolio since we can easily include things like zip wires, abseiling and adventure challenges or team building exercises into our adventure days or organise standalone hiking, rafting or bike journeys through the arctic wilderness.
