Ski & Snowshoe Hire

This section of our website is about ski and snowshoe hire. Prices are per day and per week, but longer rental periods are also possible.

BACK-COUNTRY & CROSS-COUNTRY SKI-HIRE, HYBRID SNOWSHOE-SKI WITH SKINS HIRE & SKATE-HIRE

We have 6 sets of liukulumikengät (hybrid snowshoe-skin-skis) available for hire.

Our BC skis are primarily with NNN BC bindings and fish scales (i.e. no grip wax needed) although we also have some older skis and boots with Salomon SNS-BC bindings (both fish-scale skis and ones that work with half-skins). Some are shorter carved-style skis designed for alternating with snowshoe use on longer mixed journeys (also good for skijoring with the dogs) and some are longer, classic back-country ones.

We also have one pair of lighter, shorter, race-style back-country skis with classic SNS bindings which work for younger children. We do not stock any of the new nano base skis.

Our XC SKis are primarily with Classic SNS Bindings. We apply grip tape to the majority of these skis at the start of the seasons so they do not need to be waxed. We also share a set of classic waxable Karhu XC skis and boots with another operator. FYI: We have a few classic XC skis and boots available for children from 2 - 10 yrs and a decent range for age 11+.

Some years we have an ice-track on Ounasjärvi lake. When this is made, our classic Karhu ski boots work with our free-heel skates. We also have 2 sets of SNS BC skates.

RENTAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Rental prices are charged in advance. 
To rent equipment from us, you need to present an ID and provide contact details.
The renter is obliged to return the rental equipment at the end of the rental period. Late returns will incur an additional charge according to the price list.
The use of rental equipment is always at the renter's own risk. The condition of the equipment is always checked before rental and upon return.
The renter undertakes to return the equipment in the condition in which it was when rented and, if necessary, to replace the damaged parts or equipment. 
We also charge the renter for the cost of the repair itself.
Lost / non-returned items incur the full cost of the replacement of that item.

Using the equipment in the way that it is designed should not result in damages. However, you can purchase peace of mind kit hire insurance that covers the rental period @ €10/day. The insurance covers all parts that you are liable for and all repair costs.

Customers are liable for:
Ski Breakage replacement cost per ski: €200
Ski / Snowshoe Pole Breakage: €30
Snowshoe Breakage including snapped straps: €120
Small rips in tent or sleeping bag fabric: €15
