This section collates information about the variety of hotels and hostels available in Enontekiö outside of the main village centre of Hetta.
The Forest and Park Service and the Forest Research Institute rentable cabins which are targeted hikers and other outdoor recreation enthusiasts are not included here.

Fellhotel Vuontispirtti (www.vuontispirtti.fi)
Vuontispirtti is a parish-owned hotel nestled amongst the fells in Ylikyrö village in the south-eastern corner of the Pallas-Ounas National Park, is in an ideal location for outdoors activities all year around; ski tracks and hiking routes to the National Park start from the hotel and there are also plenty of possibilities for mountain biking. Hence, their clients tend to be hikers, cross-country skiers and berry pickers in search of a peaceful and natural location.
Vuontispirtti offers accommodation in hotel rooms, cabins and apartments and has a camping and caravan site. There are 42 double rooms and 4 single rooms available in the main building as well as 10 separate cabins which accommodate 4 people each, and include a bathroom, kitchenette, TV and radio and sometimes a drying closet. The fully equipped apartments can host up to 8 people and include a private sauna, dormitory-style accommodation and some apartments.
There is also a meeting area, a café, a restaurant which primarily serves tastty buffets (but has no alcohol service), a souvenir shop and guide services. Catering for larger events can be booked.

Kalmakaltio Wilderness Centre
Kalmakaltio, located north east of Nunnanen village, on the eastern edge of the Pöyrisjärvi Wilderness area, is a good base for hunting, fishing and cloudberry picking but might not be operational at present since it is for sale. More information can be found from +358 16 526233.

Tundrea is a privately owned and family-operated resort located in the heart of Kilpis which has been in business since 1989. Whilst traditionally welcoming mainly Finnish and Norwegian clients, they now get an increasing number of non-Scandinavians visiting each year. Tundrea offers high-quality chalets and apartments, each with a private sauna, TV, fully equipped kitchen and free Wi-Fi. All chalets have a balcony, fireplace, washing machine and a dishwasher.
Dining at Tundrea is a pleasant culinary journey with many local incredients on the menu either in their cozy restaurant or by the open fire in their Kota restaurant. Take-away meals and breakfasts can also be ordered throuh the year but breakfast is only servied in the restaurant in high seasons.

Halti (c. 85 m2)
Is the largest apartment and sleeps 1-8 people. It has a fully applied kitchen, dining and living room, 2 double bedrooms, a large electric sauna, bathroom, separate toilet, a large entrance hall, sun terrace and stone patio.
Saana (50 m2)
sleeps 1-5 people with a fully applied kitchen, dining / living room, bedroom for 2 people with a double bed, a convertible sofa double bed + extra bed, alarge electric sauna, shower room, toilet and sun terrace.
Malla (27 m2)
is a studio apartment for 1-3 people. It has a fully applied kitchen, shower room, toilet and beds for two with a sofabed which can sleep one adult or two children.
Kilpisjärven Retkeilykeskus (Kilpisjärvi's Hiking Centre)
Kilpisjärven Retkeilykeskus is a traditional accommodation and restaurant services provider. It is located by lake Kilpisjärvi under the shadows of the Saana fell, 6km from the Norwegian border.
Both guesthouse rooms sleeping 2-4 people (20 in total, all with en-suite bathrooms) or in cabins by the lake are available. There are 13 cabins in total, each accommodating up to 4 people with bunk beds, shower and toilet, kitchenette and basic kitchenware. They also have a caravan and camping site.
The reception is located in the main building, as is the fully licenced restaurant, souvenir shop and a minimarket. The restaurant, which seats 200 people, is well known for its good food. The most famous part of the restaurant is the traditional Siilastupa where the company was originally started in 1937. The restaurant serves to please the most demanding needs of the outdoors people, from early breakfast until the plentiful dinner at night. Many hikes and skiers also drop in for a coffee break to the café.

In Eastern Enontekiö
Ketomella Cabins
Kosti Stoor (tel. 0400 163 154) offers wilderness cabins and catering services in Ketomella in a beautiful location just off the main Ounasjöki river. There is a central kota which can be used by groups and most of the double cabins sleep c. 5 people on each side.

As in Hetta, the petrol station on the Finnish side of Karesuvanto is multifunctional in that it is a cafe, restaurant, pharmacy, parcel courier service, souvenir and practical outdoor shop all at the same time. They also have a sauna and meeting rooms available for rent, a small room in the main building which can be rented for a couple of hours by those driving long distances and an apartment which can be rented overnight. Those continuing on towards Norway might want to rent their seaside cabin in Skibotn, the village you hit at the first T-junction in Norway, having crossed the border already high on the Kilpisjärvi plateau.
Vikkurikosken Leirintä
Vikkurikosken Leirintä is a holiday centre on the shores of the Könkämäeno fishing river, 15 kilometres north of Karesuvanto on the main road to Kilpisjärvi. This is an an ideal location for fishermen and is open 20.6.-30.8 (and at other times by prior booking). There are 2, 4 and 6 people cabins available to rent as well as a caravan and camping site. The smallest cabins have 2 beds and a cooker. The others also have a kitchenette and the largest cabins have a small sleeping loft. Shared toilets and showers are located in the main building, as is a dishwashing area and the traditional wood-heated sauna can be used if reserved in advance. Incidentally, the area's vet also lives here if you have an emergency with your pet en route from Kilpisjärvi to Hetta!
Robin Pirtti
Ropin Pirtti provides cabin accommodation and a cafe selling pretty good doughnuts and other home-made goods (including locally picked berries and other souvenirs) by lake Naimakkajärvi at Ropinsalmi, about 60 kilometres south of Kilpisjärvi. In other words, between Kilpisjärvi and Karasuando. Ropin Pirtti is open for the spring and summer season between April and mid September although it is generally closed for the last two weeks in May. You can also buy fishing permits from here. The cabins accommodate 2-4 people, and the toilets, showers, campsite kitchen and rentable sauna are shared by all guests. There are 2 powered sites for caravans and a site for campers.
In Kilpisjärvi
Majatalo Haltinmaa
Majatalo Haltinmaa is a small family business offering accommodation and restaurant services in the great fell region. Accommodation is provided in nice and affordable semi-attached cottages for up to 6 people. There are also single rooms with private saunas and 2 bedroom apartments with a fireplace, a small kitchenette in the living area, a sauna, shower and toilet. The largest cottage has 3 bedrooms to accommodate 6 people, sauna, shower, toilet and a large open kitchen / living area. The cottages are rented out year around, and they are always comfortable and warm when you arrive. There are also terraces to sit out on, a Lappish lavu with open fire, a pub (Bosse’s Bar) which is open until the early hours, and a playground for the kids. The restaurant, Lapintyttö, serves homemade delicacies at a plentiful buffet table daily during the high season and at weekends only during the rest of the year. The price is 16€ / adults, 7€ for children under 7 years, and those under 3 years eat for free. “A la carte” is also available.
Saivaara Mökit
Saivaara's 52 m2 cabins have a separate bedroom, open plan sleeping area upstairs, fully equipped kitchen-living area, fireplace, bathroom and sauna with access to an outdoor lavu. They can arrange food services by request with prior booking but there are three restaurants within one kilometer of the cabins.
There are tent and caravan spots in the villages of Hetta, Nunnanen, Leppäjärvi and Palojärvi.

Käsivarren Tunturipalvelu offers accommodation near the village of Karesuvanto along the road to Kilpisjärvi in quiet surroundings. You can choose between three cabins.
Suopursu Cabin is located on Lavivaaran Tie, about 1 kilometre off the main road and is confortable in both summer and winter.
The Lavijoen mökki cabin
is located at the riverbanks of river Lavijoki about 1,5 km off the main road. The cabin is located inside a reindeer herding fence, and it is a great spot to observe the reindeers.
The modest Hukkajärven mökki cabin
is barely visible from the road, but you can drive your car right next to it. This tiny cabin has a wood warming sauna, outside toilet and no electricity. Drinking water is provided.
The Syväjärvi wilderness hut
is easily reached by snowmobile or ski in winter and by foot in summertime. It accommodates even a larger group comfortably.
In Kilpisjärvi
we offer accommodation in camping rooms by the famous Saana fell. The former roadworkers’ apartment accommodates up to 12 people. The rooms have stunning views to Saana and to the mountains of Sweden and Norway.
