This product incorporates some guided classic arctic hikes into stunning wilderness locations in combination with time spent hunting for the aurora.
Autumn is by far the best time to go hiking in the arctic. The trails are literally ablaze with rustic colours and the days are crisp but sunny. We have a number of 2-4 day route option suggestions available -built around nights spend in wilderness cabins- for those who would like to head out into the wilderness in search of the northern lights.
Our standard product starts with an introductory day to the region and the arctic nature, as well as with talks on northern lights and the stars. We then spend 2 days hiking from either Pallas to Hetta or, (the more gentle alternative), Kettomella-Tappuri-Hetta. The cabins along this trail are very popular since this is the premier hiking route in Finland. The second two-day journey, by comparison, is out into a wilderness landscape that few venture into. The night will be spent at the comfortably equipped but very remote Palojöki cabin on the edge of the Tarvontavara Wilderness Area.
