Husky Guide School

Some people are captivated by the lifestyle of sleddogs guides and want to experience the 'behind the scenes' world for themselves to see if it is something that they might want to do. Some have their own dogs and want to learn more skills and techniques for getting the most out of them. Others simply want to maximise their chance to interact with these unique dogs whilst visiting the Arctic.

Whether it is curiosity or adventure or lifestyle that drives you, you are more than welcome to join us - whether that be for 1 day or 1 year. Although the daily chores that we carry out around the care of the dogs are repetitve, life on the farm through the ever-changing seasons, is pretty varied.

All of our shorter intensive guiding courses and autumn training camps are open to anyone. Participants stay in comfortable accommodation and come in to join and learn from the guides during the working day.

Longer-term internships involve a complex application process since we want to be sure that you are really aware of the realities of life in the Arctic and that you don't have a wholly romantic view of the work before we accept you. Once accepted, you will truly function as part of our team and will live in the guide house alongside our guides, so we need to make sure that it will be a good fit, both ways.
