This 7-day package combines 3-days of sledding with 2 days of arctic survival skills. However, we run the 3 days of sledding a little differently from normal, with shorter days leaving more time for survival and bushcraft exercises also in the evenings. The package includes transfers to the farm from Enontekiö airport and we are also happy to provide advice or to organise transfers, at cost, for those travelling through Kittilä.
Programme Duration: 7 days
Number of Days of Mushing: 3
Number of Days of Specific Arctic Survival Skills Instruction: 2
From mid-March until the end of April, on demand. Minimum course participants: 6.
Accommodation & Board
The first 2 nights of this package (ie the pre-safari night and the first night of the safari) are spent on the homestead in our traditional farm kota (circular log cabin with central fireplace) surrounded by all of our dogs and the last night is spent in a 3* family hotel in Hetta. The 3 additional safari nights are spent in wilderness cabins.
When on the farm, people have the option to spend the evening relaxing in the kota or joining in fully with farm life - including the feeding of 170 odd dogs.
Transfers to and from Enontekiö airport are included and we can help to arrange the logistics of your transfers from Kittilä airport for an additional fee.
Price: Adults: €1550. (€40 single supplement if a single room is requested for the last night in the family hotel.)
Price includes: 2 days of expert tuition in arctic survival skills, and 3 days of mushing for 20-40km per day with a personal dog team, with time to incorporate and extend survival skills in the evenings; kit and clothing suitable for the arctic; expert guiding through the tour - for the majority of the time with a guiding ration of 1:3; a guided farm visit and sled-driving training session; briefings on arctic safety and survival; a personal mentor during the two evenings spent on the farm's homestead when there is the chance to take part in a wide range of farm and dog-related activities (walking oldies, playing with pups, brushing dogs, carrying out medically-related tasks or simply feeding the farm of c. 170 dogs) and 6 night's accommodation with full board (two nights of which are spent on the farm homestead in a traditional kota, 3 nights in wilderness cabins and 1 night, post safari, in a local family hotel.
